Nachweis für Besiedlung is a collection of everyday objects from Halle-Neustadt. The prospect of the city’s disappearance and the fact that the number of the original residents and witnesses of the former settlement is steadily declining provided the impetus for Nachweis für Besiedlung. The first public presentation of Nachweis für Besiedlung took place in autumn 2004. It was linked to a call for all residents of Halle-Neustadt to contribute to the collection. Since then, a large number of former everyday objects, photographs and souvenirs from Neustadt have been donated by residents of Neustadt and their friends.
Pictures and information about a small part of the collection were entered into a FileMaker database in 2005/06. With the so-called Neu-Neustadt-Modell, which was presented in 2006/07 at the municipal museum in Halle, the collection was transformed into a work of art. A section of the city model is to be displayed from November 2014 next to the window facing Halle-Neustadt at the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale). To mark the 50th anniversary of Halle-Neustadt, the items will be taken from the Nachweis für Besiedlung collection and, with the help of theorists and designers, transformed once again into an exhibition project, as well as interpreted and commented on in a new way.
