The Frankfurt-based artist collects everything from fittings to toothbrushes, rolls of wallpaper, irons, tiles, pots, and chewed gum. For exhibitions, he sorts the objects according to categories he has created himself in specially made display cases and shelves or in floor displays covering several hundred square meters. Probably the best known of his installations is Von Jedem Eins (One of Each). As in his participation in the Deep Storage exhibition at the Haus der Kunst in Munich (1997) and his solo show at the Kunsthalle Mainz (2011), visitors walked across a long footbridge over his displayed collection. For Werkleitz, Karsten Bott arranged items from the Nachweis für Besiedlung (Proof of Settlement) collection on a shelf.
