Kurt Helm is best known for one overarching project: The Great State Circus. This consisted of many smaller installations, of which the following are currently known:
Seducers and the Seduced (1996); Unrest (1998); The Democratic Spiral (2003); Waiting for Extinction (2011). Kurt Helm’s commentary on the theme of ‘Political Will and Popular Allegiance’ using objects from the Evidence of Settlement collection was only recently rediscovered and was on display in the shop window as part of the exhibition project Evidence of Settlement. This is likely to be classified under the overarching complex The Great State Circus.
