Tim Brauns

Tim Brauns was born in Bochum in 1968. He completed an apprenticeship as an orthopedic technician and studied industrial design at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 1997, he has been running the Berlin design studio e27 together with Fax Quintus and Hendrik Gackstatter.

Tim Brauns has taught in Florence, Berlin, Vienna, and Toulouse, and has been a visiting professor in Germany and Italy. In addition to his work as a designer, Tim Brauns is a collector. He collects functions and uses them in his work as a designer.

His collection includes, for example, 20 folding hangers, 20 different models for one and the same function. In addition to the found objects, which Tim Brauns regards as a kind of ‘training for the eye’ and which inspire him in his work as a designer, Brauns is influenced by designer personalities such as Hans Nick Roericht and Bruno Munari. In 2009, his collection was exhibited at the Museum der Dinge in Berlin.
