About
Media
Werkleitz produces and presents digital culture and contemporary art - on a local, regional and international level. Founded in 1993 in the village of Tornitz/Werkleitz in Saxony-Anhalt, Werkleitz has moved to Halle (Saale) in 2003.
The annual Werkleitz Festival, which emerged from the Werkleitz Biennale in 2008, has established itself as an important international stage for film and media art. Artistic perspectives on current topics are presented to a wide audience and put up for discussion in exhibitions, film programs, performances and publications, for example.
With the grant and funding programs European Media Art Platform (EMAP), A38 grant and Werkleitz project funding, Werkleitz supports and connects artists and collectives nationally and internationally. Since 2011, the Professional Media Master Class (PMMC) has also offered further practical training for filmmakers and media professionals.
The in-house equipment rental provides professional equipment and advice for non-commercial artistic film and video productions. In cooperation with Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, Werkleitz also runs the Videorama as a presentation space for video art and a window into the city.
