Ginan Seidl
Ginan Seidl (born 1984 in Berlin, of German-Iraqi descent) is an artist and filmmaker. Her work moves between documentary and fiction, encompassing both films and video installations. She is particularly interested in poetic approaches to documentary material—engaging with diverse perspectives and cosmogonies that open up new forms of knowledge, encounter, and embodied experience through cinema.
In 2012 Ginan Seidl took part in the Professional Media Master Class, followed by the PMMC Lab at Werkleitz in 2015/16. She is an active member of the collective FILZ and co-curator of the Leipzig media festival paradoks.
For her work, she received, among other honors, the Special Award for Visual Art at the Filmkunsttage Sachsen-Anhalt (2024). Her films and installations have been presented at Forum Expanded (Berlinale) as well as at international festivals such as Visions du Réel, BIEFF Bucharest, and FICUNAM. In addition, she regularly exhibits at institutions across Germany and throughout Europe.
