Marianne Wendt
Marianne Wendt works as a screenwriter and head writer for film/television, as well as an author and director for radio (features/radio plays). She writes in collaboration with her co-author Christian Schiller, in teams, or in writers' rooms.
She studied theatre directing (Regie-Institut Hamburg) and architecture (TU Munich/Berlin University of the Arts). From 1999 to 2001, she worked as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. From 2001 to 2005, she worked as a freelance theatre director at various municipal and state theatres (Deutsches Theater Berlin, Bühnen der Stadt Köln, Staatstheater Mainz, etc.). In 2006, she completed the ‘Fiction Producer TV’ course at ISFF Berlin. In 2006/07, she was a scholarship holder at the Drehbuchwerkstatt München (Munich Film and Television Academy). She has worked as a festival director and curator and regularly serves on various juries.
From 2013 to 2018, she was head writer for the ZDF series ‘Letzte Spur Berlin’ (Last Trace Berlin). The two-part event series ‘Zwischen Himmel und Hölle’ (Between Heaven and Hell) aired on ZDF and BBC Four in October 2017, and the six-part miniseries ‘Eden’ premiered in the official competition at Series Mania 2019 in Lille. The first two episodes of the new ARD series ‘Der Irlandkrimi’ (The Irish Crime) about psychologist Cathrin Blake will be broadcast in autumn 2019, and the ten-part documentary podcast series and web documentary ‘Der Koffer aus dem Mauerstreifen’ (The Suitcase from the Wall Strip) will premiere on SWR2 in autumn 2019.
