  • 1982–1986: Studied philosophy/Marxism-Leninism in Leipzig; after dropping out of university for political reasons, worked as a freelancer in East Berlin
  • From May 1989, participated in protests against election fraud in the GDR local elections; expelled from the GDR on 7 July 1989 for political reasons
  • 1990–1991: Press spokesperson for the East Berlin municipal authorities; 1991–1994: Press spokesperson for the Senator for Youth and Family Affairs in Berlin
  • From 1995, project manager for Galerie Eigen+Art, Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, among others
  • In 1997, organised the Hybrid Workspace as a temporary media laboratory at documenta X in Kassel together with Geert Lovink, Pit Schultz and others
  • 1998 Founding member of mikro e.V. Until 2000 Chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Media Cultures in Berlin
  • 1999 - 2000 Director of Corporate Communications at the software company Subotnic
  • Since October 2000 Head of the Multimedia Department at the Federal Agency for Civic Education in Bonn and Berlin.
