Grit Lemke

Grit Lemke was born in Spremberg/Lower Lusatia in 1965. After completing an apprenticeship as a construction worker and working in theatre and culture, she studied cultural studies, ethnology and German language and literature in Leipzig. She has been a freelance journalist for print media, online and TV since 1993. Doctorate in European ethnology. She has been working at DOK Leipzig since 1991 and has been head of the documentary film programme since 2010. From 2001 to 2003, she worked as a selector for the Sheffield International Documentary Festival, and since 1998 she has held various positions at the Cottbus Festival of Eastern European Film. She teaches visual anthropology, documentary film and curating. Publications on documentary film and collaboration on films. Lives and works as a freelance author and curator in Berlin.
