Antje Schiffers

Antje Schiffers, who has painted flowers in Mexico and travelled Italy, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as an itinerant painter, was once the resident artist at a tyre factory plant, is the ambassadress and correspondent of respectively for the contemporary arts space Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzig, conducts trade on an exchange basis both with agriculturalists and corporate consultants, has worked since 2003 with the international arts initiative myvillages.org – inter alia on the International Village Shop project – exhibited solo at the Secession in Vienna, the Sprengel Museum Hanover, the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig, the Kunstverein Hanover, and participated in group exhibitions at Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin, the ZKM Karlsruhe, and the GAK Bremen.

Thomas Sprenger, an industrial engineer, has cooperated with Antje Schiffers since 2004 on the International Village Shop and Vorratskammer for the House of World Cultures Berlin, and on other projects at the Lentos Museum in Linz, the Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, the Werkleitz Festival, and for the town of Pulheim.
