This year's Werkleitz Festival .move ON presents media art from Canada, Australia and Europe. A total of 21 artists and collectives from the 2014/15 European Media Artists in Residence Exchange (EMARE) scholarship programme are taking part in the exhibition.
In their newly created works, they predominantly analyse current technologies and their social relevance, virtual reality and fiction, as well as changing narrative structures and temporal dimensions. Afrofuturism, asylum, big city life, alternative future scenarios and soap bubbles thus become the subject of observation.
Artists:
Matthew Biederman (CA) and Pierce Warnecke (FR/DE), Daniel Cockburn (CA), Pedro Ferreira (PT), Anaisa Franco (ES), Verena Friedrich (DE), Matthew Gingold (AU), Korinsky (DE), Lauren Moffatt (AU), Robyn Moody (CA), Cristina Picchi (IT/UK), Gail Priest (AU), Steve Reinke (CA), Mónica Rikić (ES), Soda_Jerk (AU), Isabell Spengler (DE), Christoph Wachter & Mathias Jud (CH/DE).
The festival will open with a three-day conference on the present and future of audiovisual media. On the festival weekends, .move ON will present concerts and DJ sets by Australian and Canadian musicians.
