Richard Rothfeld
Born in Berlin in 1996, he is a practising artist and exhibition curator. He studied fine arts at Burg Giebichentstein Art Academy from 2018 to 2024. His studies were complemented by a guest semester in information design at the same academy and an Erasmus stay in Tallinn, where he became acquainted with urban studies. His main focus of interest to date has been on modern art and cultural practices. In particular, he focuses on the ‘boundary-drawing practices’ (Franke 2015: 201) formulated in this context and their relativisation and negotiation in the advancing 20th and early 21st centuries. In practical terms, he examines and explores the potential of reality constructions by means of (moving) picture stories. Developing his own exhibitions and video installations supports him in this endeavour. Communicating his discoveries is an integral part of his previous productions.
