Katharina Mänz

Katharina Mänz is an artist and filmmaker based in Leipzig. Katharina's work lies at the intersection of documentary film, performance theatre and experimental video. Her artistic practice is characterised by a variety of cinematic narrative strategies based on documentary and performative approaches. Katharina explores various aspects of perception, including the creation of tactile qualities in film and the expansion of the cinematic experience through experimental approaches. Her theoretical approach is significantly influenced by an intersectional perspective of queer theory.
She completed her studies in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in scenic arts at the University of Hildesheim and obtained a master's degree in media art and design at the Bauhaus University Weimar in 2023. She also studied at the Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland, and at Concordia University in the field of intermedia in Montreal, Canada.
Katharina has been awarded several scholarships, including the Women's Promotion Fund of the Bauhaus University Weimar and project funding from the Thuringian State Chancellery. She is currently a scholarship holder of the Thuringian Cultural Foundation.
