The symposium will open with a panel discussion on biodiversity, water and soil – key foundations for our future climate. Experts will share perspectives from their work and then engage with the audience to explore how we can prepare for the coming changes to our climate.
Agricultural scientist and professor of ecology Josef Settele from the UFZ Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Halle will offer an overview of the threats to biodiversity, and Gerald Jurasinski from the University of Greifswald will explain the importance of moorland rewetting. Afterwards, psychology student Thea Terjung and geographer Pauline Seidel will present their KollektiV Landwende initiative and the methods of the Future Workshop, followed by landscape architect Hans-Gerd Kleymann introducing a pioneering local rainwater project.
