04 Artist Talk with Egill Sæbjörnsson

Money has become immaterial, a data trail, but it rules the world as it always has. Sæbjörnsson's artistic works playfully and cunningly explore the relationships between the material and the imaginary, between the world and our preconceptions about it. His trolls made one of their first major appearances at the 2017 Venice Biennale, where they were exhibited in the Icelandic pavilion together with Sæbjörnsson. This collaboration resulted in the work Trollmünzen [Troll Coins] for Mein Schatz [My Precious]. Egill Sæbjörnsson will be introduced at the Werkleitz Festival 2023 by Anne-Christin Bielig and interviewed about his work. There will also be questions from festival visitors and the two artistic directors, Daniel Hermann and Alexander Klose.
