The/Das

The Berlin duo The/Das calls its sound ‘techno tenderness,’ a unique blend of electronic avant-pop with melodic understatement over club-ready beats. The mood shifts between hypnotic trance, trippy excursions into post-rock and dub, and epic songs for chilling out after dancing. The two musicians, Fabian Fenk and Anton K. Feist, were previously two-thirds of Bodi Bill, releasing four albums under that name and gaining a large fan base. As The/Das, they released the EP Speak Your Mind Speak (2013) and the LP Freezer (2014), both on Sinnbus. Their music is now more concentrated and somewhat darker, thriving on Fenk's distinctive voice, which is given plenty of space above the carefully layered, driving soundscapes.
