Andreas Petrik
Dr. Andreas Petrik is Professor of Social Studies/Political Education Didactics at the Institute for Political Science at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He studied political science, German language and literature, and education in Marburg, completed his legal clerkship in Hamburg, worked for several years as a high school teacher, and earned his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in the graduate program for educational research. His teaching and research focus on the opportunities and difficulties young people face in developing an empathetic, reflective, and democratically engaged political identity. He distinguishes between democratic and democracy-skeptical “types of politicization.” His topics include best practice, argumentation, and learning process research; political judgment and conflict resolution skills; Martin Wagenschein's genetic principle; action-oriented and simulation methods; social theories; ecology; futurology; right-wing populism; and right-wing extremism.
