Mansfelder Momente [Mansfeld Moments]

Along the shop windows at Hettstedt’s market square, the exhibition presents photographs by Eberhard Klöppel.
From 1974 to 1989, he observed the Mansfeld region as a photojournalist, capturing the working and everyday lives of its people in striking images.

The result is a series of important documents of a GDR in transition. The photographs depict mining-shaped landscapes and industries, life in towns and villages, and moments of trust shared with people on site – at demonstrations and festivals, on streets and in backyards.
These images offer space for personal memories and conversations – about the past, the present, and possible perspectives for the future.
