A woman is in love with a piece of raw flesh. The film treats of intimacy and distance, power and desire. A deep pain hardens into cool images. A voice whispers the song Surabaya Johnny by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht: “When I asked how you earned your living / I can still hear what you said to me: / You had some kind of job on the railway / And had nothing to do with the sea.“
