Expert: Philip Scheffner, filmmaker

This workshop uses various documentary film forms to convey the theoretical knowledge that is indispensable for working with linear film forms, regardless of the medium. For participants, this workshop, like the dramaturgy course, is an introduction to the basics of film practice, ranging from short films and the editing of interview sequences to complex, essayistic forms of montage. Philip Scheffner will structure this workshop partly on the basis of examples from his own film practice and the analysis of selected works from film history, and partly on the basis of practical exercises with storyboards or simple editing sequences.
