Ganz andere Wärme

A Wilhelminian-style building, a WBS70 prefabricated concrete slab building, a farmhouse, and a postmodern apartment building from the post-reunification period—Karla Zipfel examines social change in the Mansfeld-Südharz district and the city of Halle using archetypal residential buildings, their facades, and heating sources.
The result is an installation that uses models of buildings and heating circuits to refer to the interrelationships between social and physical warmth. Whether oil and gas heating, wood-burning stoves, heat pumps, or solar energy, warmth does not necessarily lead to social cohesion.
