Logistics takes place in networks. Some of these, such as street and communication networks or flights operated by airlines, are physical. But there are also organizational networks. These include so-called supply chains involving distributors, producers, service providers, retailers and consumers, in which business models and power structures play a decisive role. Organizational networks are subject to continual development, driven by technology and economic and societal changes.
