Cairography

Work on the video began with a collection of stories told by two befriended non-Egyptian women discussing their relation to Cairo, to their physical presence in the streets. The choreographer Dalia Naous and the video artist Kinda Hassan try out in their video possibilities of the body to resist social restrictions. They examine the visible and invisible barriers between public and private space. What is it like to walk through the streets of Cairo? What is permitted and what is forbidden?
