Loïs Soleil at Werkleitz with the project "AI Love Bots: Love, Technology, and Desire"

We look forward to welcoming media artist Loïs Soleil to Werkleitz in Halle (Saale) as part of this year’s EMAP Residency. With her project AI Love Bots: Love, Technology, and Desire Loïs Soleil explores relationships between humans and AI systems and the role of intimacy in the digital age.

Jury Statement

"AI Love Bots: Love, Technology, and Desire by Loïs Soleil focuses on intimacy as a central condition of contemporary digital life. The project explores how emotional and romantic attachments to AI systems emerge within technologically mediated environments.
At its core are filmed interviews with users describing their relationships with AI companions. These encounters are translated into a cinematic language that emphasizes proximity, vulnerability, and presence. Based on their testimonies, the work unfolds as an immersive installation, extending these narratives into a shared spatial experience.
By combining documentary storytelling with a filmic installation format, the work creates a space in which intimate narratives can be experienced directly while also revealing the conditions under which they arise."

Werkleitz is part of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP), which annually realizes a two-month residency program at 16 media art institutions across Europe.
