Aus westlichen Richtungen bei Arsenal 3

Arsenal 3 is now open to all. The Arsenal 1 + 2 cinema suspended all events until April 19th, cutting short both the anniversary program for the 50th Berlinale Forum and the Forum Expanded exhibition. The online platform Arsenal 3 is now available to all users free of charge (on a voluntary donation basis). We are pleased that this week among others the essay Film Aus westlichen Richtungen (DE 2016) by Juliane Henrich is presented. The film was shown in one of our film programmes as part of the Werkleitz Festival2 2017 Nicht mehr, noch nicht [No more, not yet]. More information at the website of Arsenal Berlin.

Juliane Henrich’s essay film Aus westlichen Richtungen (2016) proceeds from the childish question of what “the West” can be above and beyond a point of the compass. It reveals the traces of how this concept has inscribed itself into West German post-war history and architecture as a model for society.
