A38 Stipendium
A38 Stipendiat 2021
Media
This year's A38 Production Grant Kassel-Halle goes to Sebastian Mulder for his film NAYA - The Forest Has A Thousand Eyes (NL, 2021). Congratulations!
The jury's laudation (Kassel Dokfest): A yellow indistinct line flits across a coarse-grained image. A she-wolf travels undetected over 1000 km to the west. The she-wolf is neutral, but becomes the projection surface of our emotions. Attraction-hungry humans and media look for the animal. GreyWolf680 Female unknowingly uncovers our behavior from euphoria to panic. Using the example of the she-wolf, the filmmaker succeeds in reflecting the conflict between nature and civilization. Eyes in the form of a thousand cameras spy on the forests and nature stares back. From the initially scientific observation with surveillance cameras, the artist succeeds in telling a gripping story through clever montage. The most exciting nature film I have ever seen. The scholarship is funded by LPR Hessen Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt, in cooperation with Werkleitz - Center for Media Art.
