A ship glides over a wave. It bears traces of endurance and transience, of preservation and loss. Beneath the surface, as if in an ‘underwater’ realm of memory, real flowers lie at rest. They point to the fragility of moments preserved in the sea of time – to delicate instants that bloom briefly, sink away, and yet leave a lasting mark.
The visual level is complemented by an auditory component. Two voices accompany the journey: the soft, persistent ticking of time and the endless murmur of the waves. Whether separate or united, they open up a unique
space of perception: do the waves murmur to the beat of time – or does time tick to the rhythm of the waves? In the artwork, time is at once omnipresent and yet suspended and ‘in flux’. It takes visitors on a journey between permanence and transience and the search for their own flowers of memory.
