Pascal Capitolin
Pascal Capitolin Pascal Capitolin has been a filmmaker and film sound technician since 1995. He was born in France with Caribbean roots (Martinique/Guadeloupe). Since 2010, he has written both documentaries and feature films. He has worked with well-known authors such as art film director Phillip Scheffner (Tag des Spatzen; Revision, Havarie) and Angelina Makkarone (The Look-Charlotte Rampling), as well as US documentary filmmakers and Oscar winners Rob Epstein & Jeffrey Friedman (Paragraph 175). What makes his work special is that he handles most of these productions from the first line of the script to the final audio mix.
His professional focus is on creative documentaries with an emphasis on culture, history, and music. Numerous productions in which he has been actively involved have been honored with international awards, such as Kinshasa Symphony (2009); “Rythm is it!” (2003); “Trip to Asia” (2005); “Hotel Sahara” (2008); “In Berlin” (2009); ‘Revision’ (2011), and “Havarie” (2016).
From 2003 to 2005, Pascal Capitolin studied politics and organization at the Fernuniversität Hagen (Hagen Distance Learning University). In 2010, he received his diploma as a peace advisor from the Academy for Conflict Transformation in Bonn/Königswinter. Between 2011 and 2014, Pascal Capitolin lived in Burundi, Central Africa. There, he led an EU project as a media consultant and worked as a project coordinator for film and media productions for the Dutch NGO “La Benevolencija,” which is active in the Great Lakes region in the field of conflict resolution. In 2014, he won the silver medal as author for his film “Rwagasore” at the “33rd International URTI Grand Prix for Author's Documentary,” and his fiction film “iMashoka” has already received several awards at numerous festivals.
