Charlotte Ehrt has a small collection of morose timepieces. They date mainly from the last century (perhaps even earlier), in any case from a time when time still had to be measured in analogue terms and wound up mechanically. This function has been partially taken from them, leaving only their hollow faces. These remind Charlotte not only of her grandmother’s facial expressions when she worried about our future. They also offer comfort in the certainty that people have always worried; across generations: be it in the fear of change, the uncertainty of ‘What might lie ahead?’, or the fear of missing out.
