I can walk forwards or backwards on the train – always walking straight ahead.
Tilting to one side = taking a bend.
The standardisation of time, the need for a generalised concept of time, developed alongside the railway. It brought a new speed to
encounters – and thus gave rise to a different conception of time.
PUG = carriage-passenger gangway
Articulated carriages/folding beams are necessary so that the train can negotiate bends. These elements (PUG) connect two carriages to one another.
Folding beam: It is a connecting piece, a monster in which I am briefly trapped. It protects me from the rails and yet seems eerie at the same time.
It is an interruption of the line, a pause, an intermediate step.
A transition, a brief moment in which the tracks are visible and the floor shifts as the leaves move and the speed
rushes past you.
I try to explore the place, and it helps to transform it into a living being.
The PUG is a being, a vehicle and a space.
With PUG, I am searching for the moment when time breaks free from linearity.
I am interested in temporality/speed, the alteration of straight lines, and the moment that transforms space into a being (in contrast).
