Planetary Peasants Magazine Release
Media
We are celebrating the release of the magazine accompanying the exhibition Planetary Peasants. As we are living through a shift from the global to the planetary, agriculture and the question of food occupy key positions within this transition. Enlightened planetarism means acknowledging the polyphony of life – encompassing people of all cultures and languages, as well as the expressive forms of animals and plants, rocks and tides.
We warmly invite participants, friends, and all those interested to join us at Spore and explore and discuss the multiple perspectives of Planetary Peasants.
Franziska Lentes representing the curatorial team of Kunstmuseum Moritzburg and Alexander Klose for Werkleitz will introduce the exhibition and publication project and talk with contributors: publisher Maria Magdalena Meyer, graphic designer Wolfgang Schwärzler, and the artists and contributing authors for the magazine: Antje Majewski and Olivier Guesselé-Garai, Yelta Köm, Dmitry Vilenski (Chto Delat), Edgardo Navarro and Daniela Zambrano Almidón.
An evening on 500 years of globalization, colonialism, capitalism – and the dynamics of resistance.
Language: English/German
The bilingual (German-English) publication, published by MMKoehn Verlag, documents the 30 artistic works in images and texts, framed by a glossary of statements and research findings contributed by all participating artists, along with short essays by invited authors. These are complemented by entries from historical texts on agriculture, art, and revolution – from the time of the German Peasants’ War to the present.
