Sophie Heinisch moves through the urban landscape. The photographs capture moments, circling around the transience of objects and structures – surfaces that give us little clue as to what was and what will be. Traces that linger and then fade away.
Her collages bring together fragments of the city, nature and humanity. A central element in the prints is the windows:
By omitting colour, they stand out from the rest of the image and draw the viewer into a zoom of time and space. The black-and-white window is reminiscent of an opening into a body, as in an ultrasound scan – a glimpse into the interior that otherwise remains hidden. A line encircles a spot, thereby marking the presence of what is no longer there.
