The Werkleitz Festival move to … sociosphere, ecosphere, bodydatasphere examines the question as to which new impulses art can provide for the societal, ecological and technological dynamics of the future in an age of global transformation.

A vast array of lectures, films and podcasts associated with the three thematic spheres will be presented online in conjunction with the conference and discourse programme new world dis/order. Organized together with the German Federal Cultural Foundation and supported by the ZEIT-Foundation, this event will examine the consequences of digitalization.

For three weekends in a row, well-known theorists, scientists and artists will discuss and reflect on current phenomena of our present and the near future. The programme is streamed from the former headquarters of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR in Halle (Saale) and accompanied by features and podcasts. From June 18, selected film productions by award-winning scholarship holders of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) will be presented on the festival website, including: by Chloé Galibert-Laîné (FR), Kevin B. Lee (DE) and Total Refusal (AT).

The festival continues with an online exhibition part in September 2021:
EMAP Garden @ Ars Electronica 8-12 September

With the support of Creative Europe, 44 artists and artist collectives have been working over the last 4 years on the most urgent challenges of our time at the 11 institutions of the European Media Art Platform. They are exploring global warming, maritime pollution and water quality and creating artificial creatures as metaphors for post-human maritime life. They are investigating empathy and the swarm intelligence of robots and generating tulip patterns from Bitcoin exchange rates. They are fabricating subversive tools that citizens can use to protect themselves from digital surveillance and analyzing the logics of neoliberalism. Some of them are developing potential ways for our societies to function more justly. They all demonstrate and reflect a creative, unconventional approach to old and new technologies.

A vast array of of lectures, films and podcasts associated with the three thematic spheres will be presented online:
