Memory of Memory

Hyerin Eom works on artistic projects that explore the themes of memory, collective memory, transgenerational trauma, generational conflict, pain and family. He therefore wishes to present both completed works and planned projects. The work Memory of Memory deals with the generational conflict between his grandmother and himself. The medium he is currently exploring is stop-motion animation using wax. Wax plays an important role here as a symbol of memory, pain and healing. The images drawn on the wax surface melt, disappear and accumulate in layers upon one another. In this way, abstract memories become visually apparent.
