Kalbe

The film Kalbe is an experimental documentary that works with shifting temporal planes. A small town in the former border zone. It is here that, in early 1945, a ten-year-old girl finds herself, having fled the war with her parents. Seventy years later, Deborah Uhde meets her during a stay in the artists’ town of Kalbe and interviews her about her personal memories. The film employs predominantly photographic shots in which pointed movement takes place. The artist revisits the locations of her stories, and the interplay of the different time frames with the current social and political situation develops a dynamic of its own..
