Urban Canvas

Urban Canvas is an interdisciplinary group of artists based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Our aim is to promote creative activities in public spaces and to address contemporary cultural issues through alternative initiatives in the city, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Nick Brierley, born in Lancashire, England • studied film animation at Farnham College of the Arts in Surrey.
Emily Cargan, born in County Derry, Northern Ireland • studied English literature and language at Queen’s University in Belfast until 1992.
Hilary Gilligan, born in Ireland in 1963 • studied New Media/Art at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada, until 1993.
Shauna Noyes, born in Western Canada in 1966 • studied architecture until 1995
Keike Twisselmann, born in Berlin in 1967 • studied Fine Art in Belfast
