Maria Kindling
Born and raised in Halle, surrounded by post-reunification ruins, wide open spaces, and influential people, she moved to Nicaragua for a year and a half after graduating from high school, where she became involved in a documentary film project for the first time. Since then, her life has taken a winding path through studies in European ethnology and social sciences in Berlin, colorful social engagement, film assistantships, a year abroad in Cuba, and an ever-growing enthusiasm for documentary film, which so well combines art and an ethnological view of people and their living environments.
