Henrik Schrat
Henrik Schrat, born in 1968 in Greiz, Thuringia, graduated in Set Design/ Painting from the University of Fine Arts Dresden (1991–96), gained an MA in Fine Art Media from the Slade School of Fine Art, London (2000–2002).
Since the late 1990s Schrat has consistently addressed economic issues from a cultural perspective. In 2000 a visual narrative plus interviews accompanied the project The Appearance of Fantasy, realised on the floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. In 2008 the series One Day Comic was created as a cooperative venture for Eastside Projects, Birmingham. Narrative mural projects are developed to reflect their respective context: Milk & Honey in the Casino of the German Parliament (2004), Intent to Tan and Withdrawal Symptoms at the Forum Ludwig in Aachen (2005/06), MEATCANDY at the MOCCA in Toronto (2007), and Wolfsampel in the Galileo Tower in Frankfurt/M (2009). In 2004/05 he cooperated with Mari Brellochs on Product & Vision, an interactive project involving enterprises, scientists and artists. Since 2007 he has been writing his PhD thesis at the Business School of the University of Essex, on the adequacy of comics to depict organisation.
