Christoph Faulhaber
Christoph Faulhaber's (*1972, Osnabrück) artistic actions in public spaces and other works are characterized by a mixture of clever insolence and charming persistence; they are funny, intelligent, and have chutzpah. In doing so, he tests the boundaries between private and public space, explores questionable areas of action, and places the function of images in new contexts. His works captivate with their edgy unconventionality and repeatedly point to the contradictions and abysses of our contemporary society. Marshall McLuhan spoke of “art as radar.” He said it was an “early warning system that enables us to recognize social and psychological vulnerabilities well in advance.” This applies to hardly any other artist as much as it does to Faulhaber and his works, which venture a glimpse into the future in order to show the audience the consequences of our present.
