Viktor Brim’s Saline Operations on View at the Landesmuseum Oldenburg

The video installation Saline Operations by Viktor Brim is on view from October 10, 2026, to February 7, 2027, as part of the exhibition Weltbilder im Wandel. Landschaften von Arkadien bis Anthropozän at the Landesmuseum Kunst & Kultur Oldenburg.

The work was newly produced in 2025 for the project and exhibition Planetary Peasants. It focuses on the Mojave Desert in the southwestern United States, where dry salt lakes are now used for the extraction of solar salt. Using data-driven imaging techniques, Brim makes geological structures, vegetation zones, and human-made infrastructures visible, offering an unusual perspective on a landscape in constant transformation.

The exhibition at the Landesmuseum Kunst & Kultur Oldenburg brings together five centuries of landscape art, presenting historical paintings and drawings alongside contemporary video art and installations.
