I know, you know – Ein audiovisueller Dialog

The Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle is turning 100 and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) is turning 25. Occasion for an artistic dialogue between the young artists and academic staff of two very different art schools. The young artists participating in the exhibition create images of social processes by devising rules, deviations and omissions. Topics such as animal-human-machine, experiment, the construction of the other, the free use of one’s self, time and the perception of time show that the act of positioning themselves in relationship to the surrounding social space is of key importance to the participants – both in their works and theory. As a kind of subtext the exhibition poses the question of whether the different origins, profiles and locations of the participating art schools characterise the artistic approaches and settings of the students or whether the artistic issues dealt with today are global and universal.

Curated and organised by the academic staff in the disciplines of timebased arts (Burg Giebichenstein): Prof. Michaela Schweiger, Ray Peter Maletzki, Thomas Purgand, Media art/Transmedia Space (Academy of Media Arts Cologne):  Prof. Ute Hörner and Mathias Antlfinger, Thomas Hawranke
