Vom Ordnen der Dinge

Seemingly ordinary citizens who revel at home in eccentric, self-invented statistics; researchers who combat the boundlessness of their field with systems of organisation of every conceivable kind; dubious bureaucratic planning fantasies: is order really only half the story? Organising can become a true challenge, a great promise, perhaps even a promise of salvation, an immersion into the cabinets of curiosities of a reality that appears more perfect and harmonious than the world outside. However, it becomes problematic when this self-perpetuating dynamic of organisation is found in monstrous large-scale and long-term projects undertaken by the state and the economy. The self-absorption that is harmless in the hobby room can become disastrous when it comes to socially relevant issues. Grimme Prize 2016. Supported by the A38 Scholarship.
