Über den Brüchen [Over the fractures]

For more than 150 years, lignite mining characterised the area around Meuselwitz and Rositz and left its mark before the coal industry almost completely disappeared from the region after 1989. The scars left behind by years of overexploitation and environmental pollution are still visible as markers in the landscape. The work uses several video channels to explore the history of lignite in the former Rositz-Meuselwitz mining district and examines the interactions between people, landscape and industry.
