the_last_movie_on_earth_run_1 is a three-minute video work presented as a loop that offers a speculative reflection on memory, obliteration, and machine imagination. Starting from the question of how sacredness can be simulated for a machine, the film shows a computer that, after the disappearance of all life, attempts to recreate it from fragments—as an approximation of something irretrievably lost.
At the center is history as a fragile process, permeated by forgetting. Life appears as a cyclical unfolding, while the body carries within itself an inaccessible “body-history.” The film dissolves linear narratives and replaces them with a present that continuously regenerates itself.
Formally, the work is based on text prompts from which an infinite number of image sequences can emerge. Code and image mirror each other; each iteration becomes a new, unstable memory. Thus, memory shifts from the archive to permanent regeneration—a process in which life remains both a template and a loss.
