Strahlend grüne Wiese

What exactly is in the ground there? Starting from this question, the film searches for the processes and actors that contribute to the formation of the landscape in the former uranium mining area in eastern Thuringia. It finds traces of environmental activism, large-scale remediation projects, biotopes, contamination from uranium production residues in the GDR, anecdotes from my family, a punk festival, and the occasional mythical creature. The focus on the radioactive aspects of the landscape allows for a sensitive portrayal of the interdependence of human and non-human inhabitants and their environments. (Sophie Hilbert)
