Guided Tour
Artistic Interventions in the Natural Sciences Collections (ZNS)
Media
The artistic directors of the festival, Daniel Herrmann and Florian Wüst, offer a guide tour to the artistic interventions in the Natural Sciences Collections (ZNS) where most the festival artists will be available for discussions with the audience.
The display cases in the zoological collection contain countless objects, including numerous agricultural models and specimens of farm animals. They provide the thematic backdrop for artistic contributions that explore contemporary understandings of nature and document rural practices – between town and country, cooperative agriculture and political resistance. On view are new works created specifically for Planetary Peasants by artist Kateryna Aliinyk and photographer Jochen Lempert, the short documentary film Agris by Lisa Liepelt, and two film installations by Nina Fischer and Maroan el Sani as well as by Salka Tiziana and Julia Ábalos Reznak. In the room-scale interactive media installation by Clemens Stachel and Wolfgang Konrad, experts from around the world discuss the future of global food production. Complementing these contemporary perspectives are two films by Siegfried Bergmann offering a historical lens on late East German and early post-reunification efforts to give voice to environmental concerns in the face of pressure from agribusiness and the mining industry.
