The film concept has taken shape. At the same time, external communication must begin – not only with potential funders, but also with the team and the protagonists. This means giving the ‘film in your head’ a form that is, on the one hand, understandable to others and, on the other, does not ‘obscure your vision’ later on during filming. After all, this is a documentary film, and one can never and should never script it 100%.
This workshop focuses on project presentation:
- How do I prepare my film project?
- How do I draw up a shooting schedule?
- What steps are involved in pre-production?
- Contracts with protagonists and creative staff (rights)
- Filming permits
- Budgeting
- A theoretical walkthrough of a film project from the planning stage (exposé) through to filming
- How do I find potential partners, collaborators and funding? Naturally, the controversial topic of ‘pitching’ will also be included in the discussion. Further questions arise following the visual presentation: Do you need a trailer? And what technical options are available for producing a trailer using simple means? The final part of the workshop focuses on concrete shooting planning and communication within the team.
