The production of a documentary film is becoming increasingly complex these days, with funding usually coming from a wide variety of sources.

The workshop will address the following questions: What does the market I’m operating in look like? How do I find suitable partners to bring my film project to fruition? And what kind of partners does the project need?
What do producers actually do?

Generally speaking, the budget for a documentary film remains extremely flexible. It ranges from ‘no budget’ for a self-shot video essay to a major international feature film with a production budget of over €1 million. It is important to be able to accurately estimate a film’s budget – somewhere in between.

Together, we will work out the costing, financing plan and application process using a specific project example from the group.
