Christoph Wachter and Mathias Jud have started during their EMARE grant at Werkleitz Gesellschaft in Halle an analysis of the World Wide Web in February 2007. As Visiting Artists they present this current new project.

picidae (wall pecker) investigates the limits of our perception wherein the internet serves as means and object of the observation: images of websites enable uncommon side glances and undermine censorship. In Chinese internet cafés the artists undertook self experiments and hacked the Golden Shield, the Chinese firewall. When you are going to visit the Olympic Games next year forget about BBC and Wikipedia – consider picidae.
