One Thousand and One Attempts to Be an Ocean
Personen
Media
A possessive stream of images from “oddly satisfying” videos from the vastness of the internet floods the screen: beachgoers being swallowed by waves; an artist designing an ocean; a cell phone being shredded, etc. While this proliferating cosmos of fluid entities dominates the visual plane, a staccato-like voice sample, played at varying speeds, marks the soundtrack. “One Thousand and One Attempts to Be an Ocean” is dedicated to a highly strange, current Internet phenomenon, creating a frenzy between sensory pleasure and absolute emptiness, between image consumption and image criticism.
Curated by Florian Fischer to accompany the film program NOBODY IS AN ISLAND by Agentur für Aufbruch (AfA) and Werkleitz.
